Whitley Logistics, Inc. makes it one of our top priorities to be on time for every delivery. To accomplish this, it is essential that we operate with dependable, well-maintained equipment. Most of our tractors are leased through Penske Trucking, which provides access to hundreds of locally owned service centers and more than 22,000 qualified suppliers nationwide. We rely on Penske to handle everything from federal and state inspections to major and minor repairs. If a tractor cannot be repaired within three hours, Penske supplies a replacement unit so we can complete the delivery without delay.
Penske’s progressive preventive maintenance program is the foundation of the care they provide for our fleet. Their team performs scheduled inspections covering more than 100 checkpoints, including brakes, tires, electrical systems, drive-train components, and chassis. They also perform fluid analysis to detect early signs of wear and always use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts for all repairs.

Trailers
While reliable tractors are essential, the performance of our refrigerated trailers is even more critical. That’s why we exclusively use ThermoKing SB400 and Carrier Ultra XL units. Both companies have demonstrated exceptional reliability, technical expertise, and service support, which enables Whitley Logistics, Inc. to consistently meet the precise needs of our clients.
All of our trailers are equipped with multiple temperature sensors to continuously monitor your product. Using several independent recording systems ensures we can verify temperature accuracy even if one device experiences an issue. The four temperature recording systems we use—DataCold, Transcan, Microprocessor, and Data Acquisition System (DAS)—each offer unique benefits.
- DataCold and Transcan are standalone units mounted to the trailer, capable of storing and printing up to seven days of temperature data on demand. This is especially valuable when journey or delivery tickets must be provided at pickup or drop-off.
- All four systems can be downloaded to a computer, providing complete historical records for the entire life of the unit.
We rely on ThermoKing SB400 units for our plasma routes due to their exceptional cooling capacity for deep-frozen shipments. These units can maintain temperatures as low as –35°C and provide rapid pull-down, precise control, quiet operation, eco-friendly fuel savings, and unmatched system reliability. They also include double-probe glycol wells, which simulate product conditions and allow us to record true product temperatures—not just ambient air readings.
Every unit is equipped with an alarm system linked via satellite or cellular network to notify both our management team and the driver of any temperature deviations. At the first sign of a concern, we can take action immediately to prevent issues before they become problems. In addition, all trailers undergo routine scheduled maintenance to ensure they are always in optimal working condition. Preventive maintenance is the first step in avoiding service interruptions.
